The Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College was started in 1990 in the heart of Salem City. Since then ENT department is functioning in this college. Our ENT Department has following infrastructural facilities:
- One Professor and one Associate Professor are heading the ENT Dept.
- Four qualified ENT Assistant Professors and one Senior resident are working in ENT Department.
- 75 Students are admitted every year for M.B.B.S Course. We are conducting teaching programmes for Undergraduate Students. (Teaching programme schedule attached Appendix B).
- Our O.P Statistics being 120 new cases and 150 old cases per day (Last 5 Years statistics enclosed).
- We have well equipped Audiology & Speech treatment unit (Last 5 Year Statistics attached).
- We have a bed strength of 15. Inpatient statistics are 40 Male patients and 25 Female patients per month (Last 5 year statistics enclosed).
- 24 Hours Call duty service is functioning with one duty assistant ENT, and C.R.R.I since 1990 (Last 5 year statistics attached Appendix F).
- Elective surgeries done. Major operation cases are 45 cases per month. Minor surgeries are 80 cases per month (Last 5 year statistics enclosed).
- All the instruments & equipments specified by MCI norms for P.G. Course in ENT are available. A well equipped, Air-Conditioned, Soundproof Audiometry room equipped with three pure Tone Audiometers, one OAE for screening deafness in newborns and an impedance audiometer to diagnose middle ear diseases are available in our department.
- A Temporal bone dissection lab where PGs can acquire the surgical skill base surgeries is available.
- Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital is also equipped with CT Scan (whole body and head scan), Ultrasound MRI scanning and Colour Doppler. All the invasive, noninvasive Radiological investigations are being done.
12. Our department is co-ordinating with the District Differently abled Rehabilitation Dept. in the early
detection and prevention of deafness and provision of hearing aids. (last 5 years statistics enclosed)
13. CME programmes and surgical workshops are conducted periodically to train undergraduates and update
clinical & Surgical Skills for practicing ENT Surgeons in and around Salem.
14. Intensive medical care unit, Intensive respiratory care unit, ICCU and Pediatric intensive care unit for critically
ill cases like pediatric foreign bodies in aerodigestive tract are available.
